Offered here is an exceptionally well-preserved Belgian Browning Double Automatic Standard, serial number C7462, chambered in 12 gauge for 2 3/4-inch shells. The serial number and steel-receiver configuration have been confirmed directly with Browning. Designed by Val A. Browning, son of John Moses Browning, the Double Automatic is one of the most distinctive and innovative sporting shotguns produced by Fabrique Nationale. Rather than relying on a conventional tubular magazine, the Double Automatic uses a compact two-shot receiver-fed system. With the bolt locked open, the first shell is inserted through the left-side loading port and automatically chambered. A second shell is then placed on the carrier, producing a remarkably fast loading sequence while maintaining the clean lines and balance of a traditional sporting shotgun.This example is the steel-receiver Standard variation, identified by its confirmed C-prefix serial number. The steel Standard was the original and most substantial version of the Double Automatic, providing a steady, well-balanced feel that many traditional shotgun enthusiasts prefer.
