Product description Magnum Tanto XII in San MaiA(R) design Magnum Tanto XII in San San A(R) is a solid knife with unique features for seconds. It was Cold Steel who designed and popularized the American Tanto blade at the beginning of the nineties. Our blades made by SanMai III technology have been Cold Steel for decades. San Mai III technology is based on practices of Japanese sword makers. It is a sandwich composition of the blade of layers of different hardness. While the middle layer is high carbon hard steel the two topsheets are made of steel substantially more tough to prevent the middle layer from cracking. The blade thus becomes maximally resistant to loss of blade without the risk of breakage. But these luxurious blades are produced only in limited numbers. The VG-10 steel used to make this blade is stainless steel with a high carbon content.
