Overview

This authentic U.S. military Colt Model 1911 was manufactured in 1919 and represents one of the final production runs of the original M1911 before the adoption of the M1911A1. Chambered in .45 ACP, it retains the classic features that made John Browning's design legendary, including the long trigger, flat mainspring housing, wide-spur hammer, and double-diamond walnut grips. The pistol bears the proper "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" marking and remains a highly desirable piece of American military history. At some point during its military service life, this pistol was rebuilt and refinished by Augusta Arsenal, as indicated by the "AA" rebuild stamp on the frame. Arsenal rebuilds were performed to return service pistols to military standards, often incorporating inspection, repair, replacement of worn components, and application of a durable parkerized finish. The matte gray-green parkerized finish present today is consistent with a military arsenal refurbishment and reflects the pistol's continued service through multiple eras of U.S. military use.Additional collector features include a correct military-pattern slide with original Colt patent markings, a military-marked barrel, and inspection markings consistent with Colt production from the 1918-1919 period. Rather than being a commercial restoration, this pistol appears to be an authentic military rebuild that tells the story of a sidearm that remained in government service long after its original manufacture. Whether you're a collector of U.S. martial arms, a student of military history, or simply an admirer of the original 1911 design, this Colt represents a tangible connection to more than a century of American firearms heritage.
