This first generation Colt Python is in great condition, with only a small dent, less than 1/16th inch, at the seam at the bottom of the grip. It was made in 1963 and has never been fired, and has been inspected and certified to be in safe working order by our in-house gunsmith at 33rd Parallel Defense. The 1963 Colt Pythons were indeed special, particularly due to their craftsmanship and the era they were produced in. The Pythons made in this period, before the advent of mass production and CNC machining, were all hand-made and hand-finished. This meticulous process resulted in revolvers known for their exceptional accuracy, balance, and overall quality. Here's why they were considered special: * Hand-Made Craftsmanship: Pythons from 1955 to 1969, including 1963, were known for their superior craftsmanship. Each revolver was hand-fitted and hand-polished by skilled artisans. This meticulous attention to detail resulted in a level of quality that set them apart from later, mass-produced models. * Exceptional Accuracy and Balance: The Python's tight lockup, adjustable sights, and crisp trigger pull, combined with the weight of the barrel and the ventilated rib, made it a highly accurate and balanced revolver. This accuracy and balance were highly prized by shooters, particularly in the era where hand-made firearms were more common. * Iconic Design: The Python's sleek lines, vent rib barrel, and unfluted cylinder gave it a distinct and iconic appearance. This unique design, along with its exceptional quality, contributed to its status as the "Rolls-Royce of Revolvers". * Limited Production Era: The 1963 Pythons, along with those from 1955-1969, were produced before the implementation of more automated production methods. This limited production, coupled with the hand-made nature of the revolvers, made them highly desirable among collectors.
