FN SCAR 17S Gen 2 Carbine Features The SCAR 17S Gen 2 Carbine is built around a hydraulically buffered two-piece bolt carrier group that reduces felt recoil impulse and enables faster more controlled follow-up shots on 7.62x51 platforms where recoil management is critical. The enhanced bolt carrier is backwards compatible with legacy SCAR rifles protecting existing investments while bringing Gen 2 performance to the platform. An improved FN-designed single-stage trigger delivers a cleaner more consistent pull for enhanced control whether running precision shots or rapid fire strings. The extended receiver integrates a full rail system with M-LOK slots at the 3 6 and 9 o clock positions covering more of the barrel and gas block while extending the grip surface for improved weapon control and accessory mounting flexibility. A receiver window with heat shield allows for regulator and piston removal in the field and Torx head fasteners simplify maintenance without specialized tooling. The two-position adjustable gas regulator improves reliability across varying ammunition and suppressor configurations and the SCAR 17S Gen 2 Carbine is suppressor compatible with low backpressure forward-venting suppressors including the FN QD762. The telescoping side-folding polymer stock features an adjustable cheekpiece and true AR grip compatibility including beavertail options giving shooters a highly configurable ergonomic platform out of the box. Ambidextrous double-sided and oversized bolt catch and release controls combine with elongated magazine release buttons and user configurable non-reciprocating charging handles to deliver a fully customizable operating control layout with 24 possible selector lever combinations. Cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined the free-floating barrel has been tested to 16 000 rounds in a heavy profile built specifically for high volume shooting and user changeable barrels allow for preferred length and caliber configurations as mission requirements evolve.
