Scooter Pie Sculpin

Overview

Cousin to the Zonk (with more bells a whistles), Scooter Pie appeals to trout similar to how apple pie appeals to red blooded Americans. Even when stuffed with a hearty meal, one more piece is hard to refuse. It rides with the hook point up equipping it as the ideal streamer for riverbed transitions, drop-offs, and mid-river fishing. The head bumps along the bottom but (unlike your angry ex) rarely hangs-up because of the hook-point-up feature. Natural sculpins have proportionally large pectoral fins and the hackle tied toward the head imitates that appearance, adding life-like movement for an enticing presentation. A stiff five-weight-plus is recommended and pairs well with floating and sinking lines.
