Overview

The Springfield Armory Prodigy line, launched in September 2022, introduced the 1911 DS (Double Stack) series to provide an accessible, high-capacity 9mm 1911-style pistol competing in the modern 2011-style market at a lower price point than custom alternatives.September 2022 Launch: Springfield Armory released the initial 1911 DS Prodigy AOS in 5-inch and 4.25-inch barrel configurations, featuring a forged steel frame, a polymer grip module, and an Agency Optic System (AOS) plate mounting system.July/August 2024 Expansion: Springfield introduced the Prodigy Comp AOS models, integrating a single-port compensator directly into the barrel and slide to reduce recoil.Early 2025 Compact Release: Springfield expanded the lineup further with smaller concealed-carry oriented compact variants featuring 3.5-inch barrels and aluminum frames. This firearm comes with 2 mags 20 rounds but no optic as shown in photos.
