Overview

1995 Launch: Taurus introduced the 605 as a small-frame, steel-framed revolver derived from the popular Taurus Model 85 (.38 Special), engineered thicker and stronger to handle high-pressure .357 Magnum loads.1997 Safety Update: Taurus integrated the Taurus Security System (an internal key lock located on the hammer/frame).Modern Line-lines: Over the decades, Taurus expanded the line to include polymer-framed variants (Poly Protector), the extended 3-inch barrel Defender series, the high-end Executive Grade (2025), and optics-ready T.O.R.O. models (2023) featuring a Holosun K-series red-dot footprint cut.
