Considerations & Trade-offs
- The 8'6" medium rod and trolling-focused setup are specialized for Great Lakes use, so it may be less versatile for anglers who want a do-everything combo.
- The rod is a 2-piece design, which adds convenience for transport but introduces a connection point that some anglers may prefer to avoid in a one-piece rod.
- The reel is right-hand retrieve only, so it will not suit left-hand retrieve preferences.
- The 4.0:1 gear ratio and linecounter feature are built for trolling applications, which means this combo is tuned for that style rather than faster, more general-purpose retrieves.
